What is SMAART?

SMAART.  

Purpose.  SMAART conducts research and works with schools and other learning settings to develop, evaluate, and replicate successful practices that enhance the social well-being of all learners.

Who.  Students, teachers, school administrators, community leaders, and researchers work together to form SMAART.  SMAART is led by Dr. Martin H. Jones at the University of New Mexico’s College of Education and Human Sciences.

Expertise.  Understanding and implementing factors affecting students’ social well-being using advanced quantitative and social network analyses.

The Future.  Improving the educational experience of all youth by working with schools and teachers to improve students’  peer relationships, social well-being, and academic experiences.

The Past.  Dr. Jones’ previous collaborators include researchers from national and international universities, six school districts, hundreds of teachers, and over 2,000 students.
